925 Silver Guarantee
In order to help you make your purchase fully informed, safe, and transparent, below we provide information about the different types of silver materials you will find for sale on our website, according to their composition:
-
Sterling Silver or Silver 925: is considered silver of the highest purity. The "law" refers to the percentage of silver in the metal composition, reaching 92.5% of the total composition, and therefore being a mixture of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals (usually copper) that strengthen the silver and make it more suitable for making functional items since pure silver or "fine silver" is too soft by itself to be used in durable pieces. All our Sterling Silver or Silver 925 products carry a hallmark or distinctive mark indicating their authenticity and purity.
-
Bilaminated Silver: is the product resulting from a lamination process in which silver is compressed to form thin sheets of solid silver. This reduces the thickness of the silver sheet compared to Sterling Silver and makes it a thinner and more malleable sheet. Bilaminated Silver therefore refers to a silver sheet layered over another main metal or material, generally copper.
- Silver Plating: consists of the process of depositing a layer of silver over another solid non-silvered metal (usually copper or nickel silver). This technique allows obtaining pieces that look very similar to Sterling Silver but with a different composition, resulting in a more affordable price. Bilaminated Silver is thicker compared to Silver Plating, although both achieve a great finish at a competitive price and similar performance.
