At Sanchis Salcedo, we have been dedicated to jewelry and silversmithing in Valencia since 1944. More than eight decades during which we have accompanied different generations through important moments in their lives, always guided by the same idea: to work carefully, respect the craft, and give value to things that endure.
Our story begins in a Valencia very different from today. In those years, objects were not seen as something fleeting, but as pieces meant to last. Jewelry and silversmithing — both in silver and gold — were part of daily life, not only as aesthetic elements but as part of personal and family heritage.
Why this blog was created
Over time, we have realized that choosing a piece of jewelry is not just any decision. Doubts and questions arise, and often there is also a need to better understand what is being purchased.
What is the difference between various materials?
How do you care for a silver or gold piece?
What type of jewelry is best suited for each occasion?
This blog was created to answer those questions clearly and warmly, but also to go a step further.
We want to share knowledge, but also context. Because a piece of jewelry is not just an object: it is a choice that often marks a specific moment and can accompany a person throughout their life.
The tradition behind each piece
During these more than 80 years, we have not only worked with jewelry but with everything it represents. Many of the pieces that pass through our hands are linked to very specific moments and traditions repeated generation after generation.
We are talking about items such as baptism shells, wedding bands, wedding coins, crib medals, communion crosses, or scapulars. Pieces chosen not only for their shape or material but for what they symbolize.
In many cases, those who acquire them are not just looking for jewelry but a way to continue a family tradition. Something that was present in other moments and reappears in a new stage of life.
Understanding when they are used, what they mean, and why they have lasted until today is also part of our work. And it will be an important part of what we share in this space.
Continuing tradition while adapting to the present
We are a family business and, as such, we understand the importance of continuing tradition. But we also know that each stage demands new ways to adapt.
In recent years, we have taken an important step by opening our online store. This has allowed the storefront on Calle de la Paz in Valencia, where we have been for over 80 years, to reach the world.
Today, our gold and silver pieces reach customers from different places, always maintaining the same way of working: judgment, closeness, and attention to detail.
This blog is a natural extension of that process.
A space to share what lies behind
We don’t just want to publish articles. We want to build a useful space where anyone can learn, resolve doubts, and better understand the value of a piece of jewelry or silverware. A place to explain not only how to choose or care for a piece but also everything behind it.
Because behind every piece of jewelry, there are materials, yes, but also history, intention, and meaning.
After more than 80 years, we continue doing the same as at the beginning: working with respect for the craft and materials like silver and gold, and supporting those who trust us in important moments.
The difference is that now, besides doing it, we want to share it.
And this is just the beginning.
Sincerely,
The Sanchis Salcedo Team.
